The Importance of Positive Emotions

Daily life offers us a range of possibilities that can awaken different responses and moods in us. It is easy to be happy when we are in harmony. But when some difficulty arises, it is common to have negative and even angry thoughts.

Despite this, it is very important to learn to think and act positively at all times. Several authors and comprehensive health researchers have expressed that our thoughts and mood powerfully influence physical and mental health.

When we have a good mood and are happy, our body produces “endorphins”. Endorphin is a neuropeptide known as the “happiness hormone” because it is associated with a state of well-being. Endorphins increase when we do activities such as listening to music, singing, dancing, walking and breathing, being with friends, eating chocolate, exercising, riding a bicycle, artistic tasks or any non-competitive activity that we like.

During the growth stage, it is very important to ensure that our children develop enough endorphins and this is achieved by educating them “positively”, with self-confidence, good self-esteem and enjoying healthy moments of recreation with family or friends. Also as adults we need to establish good relationships to feel good and transmit that energy to the little ones.

It is important that parents take time to be alone, talk, give each other encouragement, avoid negative phrases and tones that will “intoxicate” the relationship. When parents are separated, it is important that communication between them is cordial and kind since children are silent witnesses of destructive dynamics, running the risk of repeating models and styles based on negativity and conflict.

By increasing our enthusiasm and optimism, we will enjoy better health and we will be ensuring a solid emotional foundation for our children’s future.

Boosting self-confidence in our children – A way to prepare them well for life

According to Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development, human beings go through 8 evolutionary stages to achieve harmonious and sustained development. From newborns we develop this ability through the consistency of the first care related to feeding, hygiene, sleep and emotional communication. A good starting point to expand confidence is the positive and confident attitude […]
